Arevalo Reacts To Historic Title For El Salvador

A breakthrough ATP Challenger Tour title and a long way round to dodge Hurricane Irma – it’s been a week unlike any Marcelo Arevalo will experience again. The 26 year old became the first player from El Salvador to notch a Challenger title with his 7-5, 6-4 victory over local Daniel Elahi Galan in the Milo Open final in Bogota, Colombia on Sunday. He had taken down fourth seed Nicolas Jarry, fifth seed Gerald Melzer and top seed Victor Estrella Burgos en route to the decider. Bagnis Continues Reign As King Of Clay

Most players would be happy with one ATP Challenger Tour title during their season, but Facundo Bagnis has gone above and beyond by lifting his sixth winner’s trophy of 2016 in Bogota, Colombia. The 26-year-old from Argentina prevailed as the top seed at the $75,000 event by defeating countryman and second seed Horacio Zeballos, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6. All six of his titles this year came on clay in South America. Bagnis has now tied Juan Ignacio Chela (2001) and Younes El Aynaoui (1998) for most Challenger titles won in a single season. “I’m very happy.
