Wawrinka Happy With Brisbane Win, Now Plays Edmund

Stan Wawrinka opened his 2017 ATP World Tour season on Wednesday night by beating World No. 29 Viktor Troicki 7-6(5), 6-4 in 90 minutes at the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp. Wawrinka is now 7-0 lifetime against Troicki in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series. “I'm quite happy with my level at the start the year,” said Wawrinka. “I think it was a good match, in general, for sure. Nestor/Roger Vasellin Edge Into Brisbane SFs

Fourth seeds Daniel Nestor and Edouard Roger-Vasselin recovered from a 2/6 deficit in the Match tie-break on Wednesday to beat Steve Johnson and Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 in 73 minutes for a place in the semi-finals at the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp. Nestor has won the Brisbane title on two occasions – in 2012 (w/Max Mirnyi) and 2014 (w/Mariusz Fyrstenberg).
