Wild Card Donaldson Fells 12th Seed In Cincy

#NextGenATP American Jared Donaldson can count a second Top 20 opponent as his victim in as many weeks after seeing off Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut at the Western & Southern Open on Tuesday. The 20 year old defeated the No. 12 seed 7-6(5), 6-3 to reach the second round for the third straight year. Ranked No. 60  in the Emirates ATP Rankings, Donaldson was coming off an impressive run to the third round at the Coupe Rogers, where he’d beaten Frenchmen, World No. 18 Lucas Pouille and Benoit Paire, back to back. Sugita Stuns U.S. No .1 In Cincy

Yuichi Sugita is through to the second round of the Western & Southern Open after surprising American No. 1 Jack Sock on Wednesday. In the first FedEx ATP Head2Head meeting between the pair, the 28-year-old Japanese player advanced 7-5, 6-4. Sugita, No. 46 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, sent down seven aces and broke four times on his way past the World No. 16. It continues a solid run of form in Cincinnati after he defeated #NextGenATP star Alexander Zverev and Nicolas Mahut en route to the third round last year, where he fell to Milos Raonic. Earlier this summer, he captured his first ATP World Tour title at Antalya (d. Mannarino). Portugal’s Joao Sousa is his next opponent in...

They've won one title on hard courts – the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco – and two on grass – the MercedesCup in Stuttgart and the Aegon Championships at The Queen's Club in London. But the team admits they play their best tennis on hard courts. “Hard court is our best surface,” Soares says. Murray/Soares are the third seeds at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, an ATP World...

Kyrgios Solid On Serve In Goffin Win

Australian Nick Kyrgios recorded just his second victory at the Western & Southern Open in beating ninth seed David Goffin of Belgium 6-2, 6-3 on a hot Tuesday in Cincinnati. “Obviously, seeing David Goffin in the first round was a bit of a surprise to me," said Kyrgios. "I think we both played each other in the [Tokyo, Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships] final not too long ago [in October 2016]. I knew it was going to be very tough. He obviously wasn't at 100 per cent today, but you know I'm not at 100 per cent either so it was a bit of a battle. But I served well at crucial moments. I'm feeling okay. I think as long...
