Nestor/Roger Vasellin Edge Into Brisbane SFs

Fourth seeds Daniel Nestor and Edouard Roger-Vasselin recovered from a 2/6 deficit in the Match tie-break on Wednesday to beat Steve Johnson and Diego Schwartzman 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 in 73 minutes for a place in the semi-finals at the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp. Nestor has won the Brisbane title on two occasions – in 2012 (w/Max Mirnyi) and 2014 (w/Mariusz Fyrstenberg). Nestor and Roger-Vasselin will next face top seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut or Thanasi Kokkinakis and Jordan Thompson, who play on Thursday. Frenchmen Keep London Hopes Alive

Frenchmen Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin kept their London hopes alive on Tuesday with a 2-6, 6-0, 10-6 win against Pablo Cuevas and David Marrero at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris. Benneteau/Roger-Vasselin are currently in 12th place in the Emirates ATP Doubles Race To London, 875 points behind Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi, who currently hold the eighth and final qualification spot into the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. But Huey/Mirnyi lost in the first round in Paris, giving Benneteau/Roger-Vasselin an opportunity to make up ground at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament. Nestor/Roger-Vasselin Prevail In Antwerp

Daniel Nestor/Edouard Roger-Vasselin continued their unbeaten streak in 2016 with a win over top seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert/Nicolas Mahut on Sunday in the final of the European Open in Antwerp, 6-4, 6-4. "Anti-inflammatories, good partners. At this point in my career, whenever somebody asks me to play, I say yes," joked Nestor about what still keeps him having success at age 44.
