Croatians Dodig/Pavic Take Hamburg Doubles Title

Croatians Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic completed a nearly perfect week at the German Tennis Championships 2017 on Sunday, winning their first team doubles title 6-3, 6-4 against Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Marc Lopez of Spain. Dodig and Pavic did not drop a set all tournament and were in control during the 76-minute final. The top seeds saved two of three break points and broke their opponents three times to hoist the trophy. “It was great. We played a really, really good level here all tournament. Dodig Ousts Top Seed Goffin In Umag

Ivan Dodig used home soil to his advantage, ousting top seed David Goffin 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag on Friday. The 32-year-old Zagreb native fired five aces to advance in 92 minutes. Goffin was making his Umag debut this week after missing the entire grass-court season due to an ankle injury. “I tried to be aggressive from the first point and tried to play shorter points,” said Dodig. “In the end, today was my day. Granollers/Dodig Through To Last Eight At Roland Garros

Seventh seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers continued their strong clay-court season by reaching the quarter-finals on Saturday at Roland Garros. Joining them in the last eight are 16th seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, and a host of first-time Grand Slam quarter-finalists. Dodig/Granollers saw off 11th seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. Dodig prevailed at this event in 2015 (w/Melo) and Granollers was runner-up in 2014 (w/M. Lopez).
