The 21-year-old Medvedev clawed his way back from a set and 1-3 deficit to beat the talented Italian Fabio Fognini, the fourth seed, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in one hour and 52 minutes. “Until 6-2, 3-1, Fabio was playing unbelievable,” said Medvedev. “I felt that I didn't play my best tennis. At least that's the case for the co-No. 1 players in the ATP Doubles Rankings, Marcelo Melo of Brazil and Poland's Lukasz Kubot.
