Tom Kohler-Cadmore has become the latest recipient of the Walter Lawrence trophy for scoring the fastest hundred in the English domestic season.
His ton came off just 43 balls on the opening night of the NatWest T20 Blast against Durham Jets at New Road with the batsman finishing on 127.
In a show of power hitting the Worcestershire batsman smashed 14 hours and eight sixes as he recorded the highest individual T20 score in the County’s history.
The 22-year-old follows in the footsteps of Worcestershire alumni Graeme Hick and Vikram Solanki who won the award in 1988 and 2009 respectively.
The Rapids set a massive 225-6 in their 20 overs which proved too much for the Jets to chase down as they triumphed by 38 runs.
Kohler-Cadmore’s innings got Worcestershire off to a strong start in the Blast, but they couldn’t keep the momentum up as they tailed off in the group stage.
However, the game will be looked back on with extra fondness as it was the night team-mate Tom Fell was given the all clear after his battle with cancer.
Kohler-Cadmore shaved his head in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research and show support for his close friend.
The Walter Lawrence trophy is open to all domestic county competitions as well as One-Day Internationals, T20 Internationals and Test Matches played in England. It’s currently in its 82nd year.
