NFL star Russell Wilson invests in high-tech helmet maker Vicis as total funding nears $50M

Vicis is adding another big name to its investor list as the startup gears up to make its high-tech football helmet available to high school athletes. The Seattle-based company today announced that NFL star quarterback Russell Wilson participated in a $7 million round led by The Peregrine Group. Total funding in Vicis is now close to $50 million. Vicis raises another $10M as 12 NFL teams place orders for high-tech football helmet

Vicis’ high-tech helmet is making its way into the NFL and more investors are taking notice. The Seattle startup just announced an additional $10 million in new funding today as it prepares to equip professional and collegiate football players with its innovative helmet. Harry Fath, a real estate developer and minority owner of the Cincinnati Reds, led the latest round, which pushes total funding for the 4-year-old company to nearly $40 million.
