Vicis lays off more than 100 employees in latest blow to troubled football helmet maker

Seattle startup Vicis officially eliminated the jobs of more than 100 employees on Friday, including its interim CEO, in the latest sign of problems at the high-tech football helmet maker. Previously, the company had furloughed employees, putting a majority of its 110-person staff on temporary leave while its board explored options including a potential sale. Who is Maven? Seattle-based media company under microscope after Sports Illustrated layoffs

Facing protests against its plans to cut staff at Sports Illustrated, Seattle-based media startup Maven defended what it called efforts at “revitalizing and strengthening” the publication. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that 40 employees, or 20 percent of the workforce, were being cut from the iconic sports publication and that its new owner, Maven, would hire 200 contract workers to cover sports.
