“Beast Mode” is showing love to Seattle and Microsoft’s co-founder as he prepares for NFL life in a new city. Marshawn Lynch bought a full-page ad in tomorrow’s Sunday Seattle Times thanking Seahawks owner Paul Allen, as well as the “12s,” a salute to Seahawks fans that supported him during his six years in Seattle. The ad also includes a logo for Lynch’s Beast Mode apparel line, which opened up a storefront on Amazon last year. BEASTMODE – what a class act. Full page message in tomorrow SUNDAY Seattle Times. Virtual football collided with real football at a first-of-its-kind event on Thursday evening in Seattle. The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) transformed into a video game party of sorts as the Seattle Seahawks hosted their inaugural Madden 17 Championship Tournament, where eight of the nation’s top Madden gamers duked it out on the giant Sky Church screen for a chance to win part of a $15,000 prize pool and a spot in the Madden 17 Club Series Championship this April. Madden, the popular football video game made by Electronic Arts, partnered with the NFL this year and for the first time enabled eight… Read More
LAS VEGAS — There are tons of big-name sports stars at CES this week checking out the giant technology expo for the first time as more and more players take interest in the tech world. Moon is a CES veteran of sorts, having first attended the show many years ago… Read More
There’s only one “Beast Mode” in Seattle. But Marshawn Lynch, the well-known former running back for the Seattle Seahawks, might have a little competition around the “Beast Mode” brand. Filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office indicate that Samsung — the giant South Korean electronics maker known for its Galaxy smartphone line — submitted a trademark application on December 16th for Beast Mode. It’s not entirely clear how Beast Mode would be activated on Samsung devices, or what it might do. But the trademark application indicates that it could be applied to “Smartphones; Mobile phones; Mobile phone with pre-installed… Read More
Paul Allen uses a Lenovo ThinkPad — while watching Seahawks games, at least. During the second quarter of the nationally-televised Carolina vs. Seattle game on Sunday Night Football, NBC aired a live clip of the Microsoft co-founder sitting in his suite at CenturyLink Field. NBC play-by-play veteran Al Michaels introduced Allen as the owner of both the Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers, noting that he “made his fortune at Microsoft with Bill Gates.” “Shockingly, with a computer in front of him,” quipped color commentator Cris Collinsworth. That “computer” looks to be like a Lenovo ThinkPad. I noticed Allen using a ThinkPad two weeks ago while… Read More
