Blast Motion’s First Basketball Ambassador is from the Miami Heat

The Blast Motion sensor, which can be clipped to the user's wristband, captures jump height, acceleration, rotation and hang time in tandem with Blast's patented Smart Video Capture.

Earlier today James Ennis, a rookie forward for the Miami Heat, was announced as Blast Motion‘s first basketball ambassador. Blast Motion is an industry innovator focused on redefining the digital experience with its wearable motion capturing technologies. Ennis will help Blast Motion by implementing their technology into his workouts and showcasing his performance.

Donovan Prostrollo, senior director of marketing at Blast Motion said, “With his signature dunks and impressive vertical jump, he was a natural choice to showcase the power of Blast Basketball,” when discussing why James Ennis was chosen by Blast to be an ambassador for their technology.

Prostrollo went on to talk about the product and its use by Ennis, saying, “It’s one thing to see your own performance, and now you can compare your mechanics to a professional player’s!”

So far Ennis has been pleased with integrating the Blast Motion wearable motion capture product, “Being able to see my progress over time with meaningful numbers is giving me the competitive edge I’ve been looking for.”

So what exactly does the Blast Motion’s Blast Basketball product do? The sensor, which can be clipped to the user’s waistband, captures jump height, acceleration, rotation and hang time in tandem with Blast’s patented Smart Video Capture. The Smart Video Capture allows users to see their movements in full 1080p HD quality with the metrics overlaid, which allows the users to see all the information as the video plays.

On top of being able to share the information about their workout and training on social media, Blast Motion’s software automatically curates the highlight videos saving the user from the hassle of having to curate and edit their own videos.

Beyond the metrics and the videos, Blast Motion is rolling out new diagnostic suggestions to improve an athlete’s performance with suggestions, tips, and simple mechanical improvements.

While James Ennis is not a household name yet, this partnership could be a good investment for both sides. Young athletes can use all the partnerships they can get, and Blast Motion gets a young player with upside who is currently in the NBA to help showcase their technology. Hopefully James Ennis can turn some heads as an athletic wing player for the Heat and help put Blast Motion and its useful product firmly on the map.
