For a while now the Dallas Cowboys have had a reported interest in esports. The team had partnered with Epsilon, a marketing ad agency, to determine potential advantages of buying an esports franchise. Now, team owner Jerry Jones has done so.
Jones, along with real estate mogul John Goff, have purchased competitive gaming organization compLexity Gaming. The deal’s groundwork began in June when the Goffs approached Jones about the possibility of buying the team.
Known as one of the original esports franchises (founded in 2003), compLexity will be moving its operation to the Cowboys’ World Headquarters in Frisco, Texas.

Everyone at compLexity is eager to re-locate to the great state of Texas and continue building our gaming legacy alongside such unparalleled partners.”

Construction will begin on a state-of-the-art facility where team members have access to greater training tools than any esports team in history. Close proximity to “The Star” means gamers will be provided with elite level sports medicine and developmental resources.
“The growth in professional gaming is incredibly significant,” Jones said in a statement. “We are proud to be stepping into this space with John Goff and an industry icon in Jason Lake. Between our stadiums, our personnel, and our experience and knowledge of professional sports, the synergies here are endless and I’m confident our resources will continue the growth of compLexity for years to come.”
The Jones family and Goff Capital will serve as majority owners while Lake remains in his current role.
