LaLiga eSports Project Aims To Reach Out To Younger Audience


Over the last few years, LaLiga has displayed a commitment to developing in the digital sector. It has worked with EA Sports and three games of their own: Head Soccer, LaLiga Fantasy MARCA and Head Soccer Heroes.

In order to further reach millennials, LaLiga has set out to create a larger footprint in the esports world and launched LaLiga eSports with plans to roll out several projects over the coming months.

The Spanish Association of Video Games projects that the global impact of esports will exceed $20 million by 2020. Needless to say, sponsors see a great chance to invest in a project that involves a high-profile organization such as LaLiga.

The timing is unknown, but the initial phase of this project will be rolled out in Spain. They will be expanding internationally as the project gains traction.

Given LaLiga’s previous work with EA Sports, it seems safe to assume that part of the project would include FIFA 18.

As of late, we’ve seen many professional leagues like the NBA and NFL take initial steps in esports.
