NBC Sports Launches Gambling-Like Game for NASCAR

NBC Sports has launched a free-to-play game called NASCAR Pick ‘Em as part of an effort to engage racing fans during the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The game will debut this weekend during the series’ Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, and offers  $10,000 in cash prizes.

NASCAR Pick ‘Em is NBC’s third betting-like game as part of its new NBC Sports Predictor app. The broadcaster launched Premier League Pick ‘Em and Golf Pick ‘Em earlier this year. All games have been developed with game developer Boom Fantasy.

Fans can make predictions on a number of event outcomes. For each race stage, users will aim to pick the driver that will have the best finish from a group of four drivers. Out of the entire field, users can then pick which drivers will finish the race in first, second, and third place—in exact order.

Fans who earn a perfect score will win a share of a $10,000 cash jackpot for each respective race. If there are no perfect scores one week, the jackpot will roll over to the next race. There will also be $1,000 in prizes available each week to be split among the users with the top scores.

“After the success we’ve seen with our Premier League and golf free-to-play games, we’re thrilled to bring the same type of added excitement to NASCAR fans every week,” said Dan Pozner, director of content at NBC Sports, in a press release. “These Predictor games are all about increasing engagement and enjoyment. We hope that with additional rooting interests throughout the race, fans will feel even more invested and involved, bringing their viewing experience to a whole new level.”

NBC is in its fifth season of NASCAR coverage and is the official home of the NASCAR Playoffs. NBC Sports will additionally serve up customized content within the NBC Sports Predictor app and site to evaluate the weekly contests and races.
