SPVRS App Shows Tottenham Hotspur’s New Stadium In Virtual, Augmented Reality

Tottenham Hotspur F.C. is offering fans a chance to step into its new stadium before it’s built. They’ll be doing it virtually through the new SPVRS (Stadium Project Virtual Reality Suite) app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. The stadium will serve as London’s primary entertainment venue and will host Premier League Football and the NFL, among other sporting events and concerts.

For an immersive view of the outside of the stadium, fans can download or print a special tracker image. Using the SPVRS app, that image can then be brought to life via augmented reality.

Users can then be transported to the center of the pitch where through the use of virtual reality, they will have a 360-degree view of the stadium. Fans who have bought premium seating will be offered that same VR experience with a view of their suite or lounge.

To get more intricate information on the parameters of the stadium, fans can click on the “facts and stats” section of the app. This will offer an aerial, 360-degree view of the venue with various touch points that include factoids. For example, a touch point within the seating area divulges that 12,000 tins of paint were used in the build.

“The app will continue to build on the excitement of our fans all over the world around the Club’s new stadium. It is a new addition to the ways we are pushing the boundaries by using the latest technology to showcase our new home and allow fans to track the progress on its build,” Tottenham Hotspur’s Head of Marketing, Emma Taylor said in a statement.

When the 61,000-seat venue opens in 2018, fans will know exactly what to expect when they walk in the main entrance. Along with VR & AR experiences, the app also offers various up-to-date news on the stadium build.

In early 2017, the Tottenham Hotspur players got the first virtual reality crack at the new stadium as they put on headsets and explored.
