On any given day, a hardcore cyclist can ride many miles and be gone for hours. But crashes can cause the cyclist to be isolated without the ability to communicate. That is why TagitLabs created BikeTag, a safety device that keeps cyclists safe and connected on the road or trails.

BikeTag begins tracking immediately when the cyclist starts to ride. It sends information directly to its app, but the app doesn’t even need to be open for BikeTag to start uploading the data.

Safety is the number one priority for TagitLabs. That’s why they instilled the ability for BikeTag to automatically monitor the status of a cyclist during a ride. If a cyclist has crashed, it alerts family members or friends that are on the cyclists’ list of friends through the app. It also sends the exact location of where the crash occurred; including the coordinates and how many miles the cyclist had ridden before the crash.

BikeTag also allows for friends and family to know exactly where the cyclist is through live tracking on the application, so they can essentially “tag” where the cyclist is at all times.

The founders of BikeTag are former cyclists and engineers who are focused on coming up with a way to keep cyclists safe while creating the most efficient, one-of-a-kind product on the market.

Weighing only 22.5 grams, BikeTag is a small, almost weightless, tag that clips underneath the seat to a bracket, or it can go in a saddlebag. It contains a lithium-ion battery that allows it to last up to three years without ever having to be charged. It connects with the application through Bluetooth technology, and it can be used on iPhone 5, 5s, 5c, 6 and 6+. TagitLabs are working to connect with Android devices soon.

BikeTag will be available for sale for $59.99 later this spring.
