Usain Bolt is the world’s fastest man and Puma is helping him get even faster. In preparation for the 2017 World Championships in London, Bolt will be wearing shoes featuring Puma’s NETFIT technology.
NETFIT features two major benefits over a regular shoe. First, it offers a unique customizable lacing system to fit the needs of the user. Puma’s performance team created five lacing options (Standard, Stability, Wide Foot, Narrow Foot, Heel Support lacing) to provide guidance, but the rest is up to you. Standard lacing is for runners who need minimal support. Stability lacing is for runners that need additional medial support. Wide Foot lacing gives runners with wider feet some extra room.
Second, NETFIT gives users the opportunity to create a shoe that is entirely their own. “The best thing about the NETFIT technology is that it is customizable and I can lace them any way I want; not only to get the best fit, but it gives me the opportunity to be creative with it,” Bolt said in a statement. “Sometimes you wish you could just design shoes purely tailored to your own feet and now you can. Plus, they look great, and that’s always the most important thing, right?”

NETFIT covers the upper-part of the shoe in a high-grade netting. Every hole can be laced offering the user control and versatility in both comfort and style. It’s set to be featured on a variety of Puma shoes including Ignite and evoSPEED — a shoe for indoor athletes.
Earlier this month in New York City, Puma gave a VIP crowd a first-look at the new NETFIT footwear.
After the event, guests headed to a lacing lab to create their own style. “Anyone can use laces of different colors, width, lengths and styles to create a personal expression for each individual taste,” Adam Petrick, Global Marketing Director for Puma, said in a statement. “With NETFIT, we’re bringing fashion and style to the world of sports in a way that is uniquely Puma.”
