VSiN Launches BetR Radio Network, T-Wolves Gaming Wins Bug-Affected NBA 2K Finals

  • VSiN and Gow Media launch new betting-focused radio network called the BetR Network. The shows will initially appear on KBAD-AM in Las Vegas and WBSS-AM in Atlantic City, N.J. Programming will include the latest sports betting news and analysis in addition to a new weekend show called Lombardi Line, hosted by former NFL executive, Michael Lombardi.   • T-Wolves Gaming defeated 76ers GC to win the 2019 NBA 2K League Championship during a series affected by technical problems. Game 3 of the five-game series finale was delayed more than two hours on Saturday due to a bug that was giving the away team in each game an unfair advantage. Michael “BearDaBeast” Key, a former college basketball player at Piedmont International University, was named Finals MVP. This past NBA 2K League season saw the debut of Chiquita Evans, the league’s first female gamer, as well as the inspiring comeback story of mass shooting survivor Tim Anselimo.

  • English soccer club Newcastle United has signed a sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency platform StormGain. The company’s brand will appear on Newcastle’s jerseys this upcoming Premier League season, which begins Aug. 9. Fans can also win tickets to NUFC matches through StormGain promos. “We believe the collaboration of cryptocurrencies and mainstream sports is inevitable, therefore it’s a privilege and honor for StormGain to be the spearhead of the blockchain community colliding with mainstream sports,” Alex Althausen, StormGain CEO, said in a press release.
  • Competitive gaming platform FACEIT will host Season 2 of the Red Bull M.E.O. esports tournament. FACEIT will run online and offline qualifiers for the tournament leading up to the Grand Final in February. The tournament will see the best players from more than 30 countries competing in mobile games Clash Royale, Brawl Stars and Hearthstone. “We’re working closely with Red Bull to make sure each qualifier offers a world class standard of competition to attract the very best competitors from each region,” said Michele Attisani, co-founder and chief business officer of FACEIT, in a press release.
