Federer Focusing On Foundation During Time Away From Tour


Roger Federer is staying plenty busy despite opting to skip the clay-court season for the second consecutive year.

The 36-year-old Swiss is working on the Roger Federer Foundation in Zambia this week. Federer is seeing first-hand the impact of the foundation's ongoing education programmes in three different community schools in the Eastern Province of the country.

Federer is interacting with children, parents, community members and teachers. The No. 2 player in the ATP Rankings also met with the President of the Republic of Zambia, Honourable Edgar Lungu in Lusaka as well as other key government representatives.

The Roger Federer Foundation started working with Zambia in 2011 together with its local partners People’s Action Forum, Reformed Open Community Schools and Zambia Open Community School. The programmes help 2,300 community schools in 53 Districts of the country. So far 220,000 children have benefitted from a higher quality of education. By the end of 2018 the overall investment in the country will be US$5.1 million.
