Federer Meets NBA's Golden State Warriors In Shanghai

One of tennis' all-time champions met the reigning NBA champions on Sunday in Shanghai.

Roger Federer, a 93-time tour-level titlist, hung out with the Golden State Warriors on Sunday evening before their preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Shanghai.

Federer talked with the team about his love for the NBA, which dates back to his childhood in Switzerland. He smiled for photos and shared some stories with the team, including stars Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

The Warriors, a season-long highlight reel in recent years, also watched some of Federer's best shots, including a tweener winner from the Swiss star.

“This is highly unusual for me to go into the locker room of another sport, really, especially before a game and this far away from the States, here in Shanghai,” Federer said. “It's kind of cool. Everybody's laid back. I love meeting fellow athletes.”

Federer returns to the Shanghai Rolex Masters this week for the first time since 2015. He is the second seed and will be going for his second Shanghai crown (also 2014, d. Simon). The 36 year old opens with a bye and could face Argentine Diego Schwartzman or Aussie qualifier Jordan Thompson in the second round.
