Henri Kontinen and John Peers will play for their first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title on Sunday. The unseeded Finnish/Australian pairing dismissed sixth seeds Marcelo Melo and Vasek Pospisil 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday in the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.

Kontinen/Peers won 89 per cent of their first-serve points (25/28) and saved the only break point they faced. They will meet top seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert/Nicolas Mahut, who topped eighth seeds Rohan Bopanna/Daniel Nestor in the semi-finals.

“It's great to make another Masters [1000] final. We have put another good performance in today and given ourselves a great opportunity,” Peers said. “Tomorrow will be a very tough match no matter which team we play so hopefully we can take our chances when they come.”

Kontinen/Peers finished runners-up at the Shanghai Rolex Masters last month (l. to Isner/Sock) and qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals earlier this week. The pairing will make their team debut at the season finale, to be held 13-20 Nov. at The O2 in London.

Herbert/Mahut hung on to beat Bopanna/Nestor 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. The top team in the Emirates ATP Doubles Rankings is London-bound and will play for its fourth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title of 2016 on Sunday. They won in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo earlier this year.
