On The Line: Jeremy Chardy

Jeremy Chardy has enjoyed plenty of success during the March Masters thus far. The World No. 90 reached the Round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Open with two Top 25 triumphs and is into the Round of 16 at the Miami Open presented by Itau after ousting Nitto ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov on Sunday. The 31-year-old will attempt to make his first tour-level quarter-final since last February in Montpellier when he faces No. 20 seed Milos Raonic on Tuesday.

The Frenchman, who has climbed as high as No. 25 in the ATP Rankings (January 2013) tells ATPWorldTour.com about the player whom he looked up to, what he'd like to do after his career and more.

What's your biggest passion?
I love football.

Favourite team?
Paris Saint-Germain.

Who is the person you admire most and why?
When I was a kid, my idol was Pete Sampras because I wanted to be a tennis player. My favourite shot is the serve and he was the best server ever.

Anyone outside of sports?
I love movies. I love Leonardo DiCaprio. He is one of the best actors, maybe the best.

What was the last concert or show you attended?
I went to see Coldplay in London last year after Wimbledon

My tennis career will be a success if ___________
I already like my career, but I would like to have a bigger title. My dream would be to one day play the [year-end] Masters (Nitto ATP Finals) or win a big tournament, but it's not easy.

If you could win any tournament, which would it be?
For sure a Grand Slam, any Grand Slam.

After my career  I want to ___________
It's a good question. It's not easy to answer. I would like to stay a little bit in tennis. It's what I do the best. I don't know, I would like to do something with my sponsor Lacoste and continue to do something for the academy I practise at, the Mouratoglou Academy, with the younger players. I think this would be nice for me.
