It’s an integral aspect of any ATP World Tour event. Players saunter into the press room after hitting the courts to face a sea of reporters. Win or lose, they are prepared to encounter a bevy of questions from many angles, as the press corps seek to dissect their game.
A consummate professional, Roger Federer has navigated hundreds of press conferences during his 20-year career, but the Swiss will admit the one he faced Friday had a slightly different tune. Federer was grilled by a group of young reporters in a special BNP Paribas Open presser, hosted by kids.
“What is your coolest move?”
“On the dance floor or the tennis court?,” Roger joked. “On the dance floor I have many. On the tennis court, maybe the shot through the legs. But I can’t do it very often.”
More than 50 schoolchildren from the nearby Gerald R. Ford Elementary School went on an excursion to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, enjoying the experience of a lifetime. The second graders took part in the inaugural 'Kids-Only Press Conference', with each given the opportunity to ask the Swiss maestro a question.

Federer begins his quest for a fifth Indian Wells title on Sunday, opening against Stephane Robert. The champion in 2004-06 and '12 is aiming for a 25th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crown.
