Champions Again: Rojer/Tecau Retain Dubai Title

Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau lifted their 17th tour-level doubles title as a team on Saturday, beating wild cards Jamie Cerretani and Leander Paes 6-2, 7-6(2) to retain their Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships trophy. "With each match we got better," reflected Tecau. "We had tough quarter-finals and semi-finals matches. We are happy to get the win today because it was a tricky match." The defending champions backed up their 2017 title run (d. Bopanna/Matkowski) by breaking their opponents on three occasions and winning 75 per cent of their service points in the 87-minute clash. Tecau/Rojer Edge Closer To Retaining Dubai Crown

Second seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau are within one victory of retaining the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title after they defeated third seeds Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram 7-5, 6-3 in a rain-interrupted one hour and 46 minutes on Friday. The Dutch-Romanian team has a 16-4 record in finals, including a 5-1 mark in ATP World Tour 500 title matches, and will next face Leander Paes and Jamie Cerretani in Saturday's final. The Indian/American wild card duo defeated Damir Dzumhur and Filip Krajinovic to advance to the final. Paes is just one match win away from 750 victories.  Did You Know? Defending champions Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau survived a tough opening round at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, beating in-form pairing Marcus Daniell and Dominic Inglot 6-3, 6-7(8), 10/7 on Wednesday. The second seeds held two match points in the second-set tiebreak to advance, but were forced into a decisive Match Tie-break by the Open 13 Provence finalists before eventually sealing the win after 90 minutes. Rojer/Tecau Reach Rotterdam SFs

Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau took just 49 minutes to reach the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament semi-finals, on Wednesday, with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Robin Haase and Matwe Middelkoop. The fourth seeds, bidding for a second title in Rotterdam after success in 2015, secured 80 per cent of points behind their first serves and won 20 of the 41 points contested in their Dutch opponents’ service games to dominate the match. Rojer and Tecau won seven successive games from 1-1 in the first set to take a firm hold of the match and looked comfortable throughout as they notched their 13th win in 16 matches as a team in Rotterdam.
