GeekWire Calendar Picks: Sports Tech Hackathon, indie games expo, and more

seattle sports techIf there are three things Seattleites love, it is sports, technology, and coffee. On Sept. 9 and 10, you can get your fill of all three at Seattle’s first Sports Tech Hackathon, which will bring together coders, athletes and entrepreneurs for a full weekend of innovation in sports tech.

At the end of the weekend, teams will have a chance to present their projects to a panel of judges, who will assign prizes for the top innovations.

The event is hosted by the Seattle Sounders and Galvanize, and Sportradar is opening its API for all participating teams to use. Registration is open to anyone interested in the integration of sports and technology. The event takes place Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10 at Galvanize in Pioneer Square. Tickets and more information are available here.

That’s one of the selections from the GeekWire Calendar, our curated list of the Pacific Northwest’s top tech events. Keep reading and visit the full calendar for more.

Social Determinants of Health: The Access ConundrumCambiaGrove_Brown

What: “Social determinants of health – the conditions in the environments in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks – are generating considerable interest in our region as an underappreciated influence on the health of our residents.

The Cambia Grove’s upcoming event series on Social Determinants of Health will provide – during three separate events in August and September of 2016 – a point of entry for health care organizations that want to address SDoH more systematically. At these events we hope to establish a rich seed bed for collaboration on the large scale interventions that this work requires.”
