Embed from Getty Images I didn’t know that Seattle Mariners pitcher James Paxton was throwing a no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday until the game was practically over. But the fact that I caught the excitement of the rare baseball feat in real time, and how I shared it with friends, is another fun example of what it’s like to be a sports fan in 2018. The game from Toronto’s Rogers Centre started at 1 p.m. PT, and rather than lie on my couch at home or sit in a bar to watch a regular season game, I… Read More
Getting through security lines and into Safeco Field to see a Seattle Mariners baseball game could be a smoother process for fans who sign up with Clear, makers of a biometric identity platform. If the Seattle Mariners “left it all on the field” at the end of the 2017 baseball season they won’t be able to get it back next year, as the playing surface is being completely replaced at Safeco Field. Fans of the Seattle Mariners might have a lot of questions about why their team is off to a slow start this season. Guests in 59 private suites at the Mariners home ballpark now have access to Amazon Echo devices enabled with an Alexa skill geared toward helping users further enjoy being out at the old ballgame. With the voice prompt “Alexa, ask the Mariners to …,” users are able to call for their suite attendant and order food and drinks… Read More
If Major League Baseball decides to put together an all-star team called the Internet Trolls, social media folks from the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics could land spots on the squad. In a division rivalry that spilled onto Twitter, the two teams traded jabs with one another on Wednesday after the Mariners debuted their slate of commercials for 2017. It’s usually a joyful time in the Pacific Northwest, with the prospect of another “Light Bat”-style ad shining throughout the summer months. But the A’s came out swinging in an attempt to rain out a “Happy Felix Day” Tweet from the M’s, which showed of a new… Read More
