Amazon and NFL deal for ‘Thursday Night Football’ on Prime Video will begin year early, run 11 seasons

Amazon and the National Football League have tacked on an extra year to a recent deal that makes Prime Video the exclusive home for “Thursday Night Football.” The reported $1 billion a year deal will now run 11 seasons and start with the 2022 season. The announcement came Monday as Amazon was taking part in the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) NewFronts, where platforms pitch media buyers for ad dollars. Amazon reaches NFL playoffs: Report says tech giant has deal to stream wildcard game this season

Amazon is taking its NFL streaming rights beyond “Thursday Night Football” and into the playoffs. The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the tech giant has reached a deal to broadcast one of two new wildcard games added to the schedule this season. The agreement was reportedly announced to team owners during a video meeting. Amazon will kick off its fourth consecutive year of streaming Thursday Night Football games later this week as Tampa Bay visits Chicago amid an unusual NFL season with the ongoing pandemic.
