Under Armour Forms Unique Partnership With Residence Inn To Bring Hotel Guests Specialized Running Routes

Under Armour’s digital fitness empire is turning into a physical empire, thanks to a new deal with Residence Inn. The hotel chain has teamed up with Under Armour’s digital health and fitness network of apps to create running routes for guests at every Residence Inn location.

Now, Residence Inn’s more than seven hundred properties in nine countries will have a specially curated, two-mile or more running route associated with it.

If a Residence Inn guest downloads Under Armour’s MapMyFitness app, they will be able to access any of these tracks. Most of the loops go through the most interesting sights and tourist attractions within the vicinity of the hotel.

“Our mission is to empower athletes everywhere and through this partnership and our fitness tracking apps and websites, we can provide personalized workout recommendations to Residence Inn guests, encouraging them to stay active even while traveling,” said Warren Kay, Vice President, Advertising for Under Armour Connected Fitness.

Last year, Under Armour managed to make three major fitness app acquisitions, integrating MapMyFitness, Endomondo and MyFitnessPal into their digital fitness platform. With these three apps, Under Armour’s network included apps that focused on tracking exercise, diet and any gym workout.

The deal with Residence Inn shows Under Armour’s willingness to work with any major corporate partner in order to promote their health and fitness network. This may be the start of any number of deals as Under Armour looks to become the biggest name in fitness.

Partnerships like this one allow Under Armour to promote their brand, while also following through with their original mission of using technology to make the world a healthier place.
