Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers advanced to the Internazionali BNL d’Italia final with a 6-3, 6-3 upset over top seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers on Saturday.
The Croatian/Spanish tandem saved all four break points they faced in the 70-minute victory. The will look to add to their 2017 title haul, which also includes a trophy in Rotterdam, when they face Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut.
The French duo rallied in a Match Tie-break to beat defending champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan and advance to the final, their first of the season as a team. The fourth seeds fired 11 aces to win 7-6(5), 4-6, 10-7 in one hour and 39 minutes.
