Del Potro/Thiem Beaten On Doubles Debut

Pablo Cuevas and Marcel Granollers were solid on serve on Monday to get the better of Juan Martin del Potro and Dominic Thiem 6-3, 7-6(8) in 87 minutes at the Mutua Madrid Open. Cuevas and Granollers won the first three games of the match, then, towards the end of a competitive second set, won the first four points of the tie-break. Del Potro and Thiem recovered to lead 5/4 and, having saved one match point at 5/6, could not convert one set point of their own at 7/6 as del Potro returned a backhand long. Cuevas sealed victory with an unreturned served for a place in the second round against top seeds and defending champions Lukas Kubot and Marcelo Melo....

Dodig/Granollers Complete Nitto ATP Finals Doubles Field

Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers have clinched the final team spot at the Nitto ATP Finals, to be held at The O2 in London from 12-19 November. The Croatian-Spanish team qualified as a result of Wednesday's play at the Rolex Paris Masters, the final event of the regular 2017 ATP World Tour season. Dodig and Granollers join Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, Henri Kontinen and John Peers, Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau, Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares, Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut, and Ryan Harrison and Michael Venus at the prestigious ATP World Tour season finale, which will see crowds of 17,500 spectators for each session. Dodig/Granollers Boost London Bid With Basel Title

Ivan Dodig and Marcel Granollers exhibited a dominant display in claiming the doubles title at the Swiss Indoors Basel. The duo did not drop a set all week, capped by 7-5, 7-6(6) victory over Frenchmen Fabrice Martin and Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Sunday. Currently in command of the final spot in the Emirates ATP Doubles Race To London, Dodig and Granollers add 500 points to bring their total to 3,490.
