Sascha Shining: Zverev Retains Munich Title

Alexander Zverev won his second successive BMW Open by FWU title on Sunday, defeating countryman and three-time champion Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-3. "I am obviously very happy with how I played," said Zverev. "[I am] very happy to get back-to-back titles here [in Munich]. It is a very special event for me so I am very happy that I could defend my title." The top seed dropped just two points behind his second serve and converted four of his six break point chances to clinch the title for a second time after 71 minutes. Dodig/Ram Win First Team Title In Munich

Ivan Dodig and Rajeev Ram won their first team title on Sunday, defeating third seeds Nikola Mektic and Alexander Peya 6-3, 7-5 at the BMW Open by FWU. "Some important deciding points were crucial," reflected Dodig. "We were feeling better in those moments and that was the key." Dodig and Ram defeated the Croatian-Austrian duo in 78 minutes, saving all three break points they faced to lift the trophy. The second seeds, who had only played once together before 2018 at the 2016 Libema Open, have now won 10 matches as a pairing since becoming a full-time team at the start of this season. All-British Duo To Play For Maiden Doubles Title In Estoril

The all-British team of Kyle Edmund and Cameron Norrie continued their run of form on Saturday, as they navigated past Leonardo Mayer and home-favourite Joao Sousa 6-2, 7-6(4) at the Millennium Estoril Open.  Edmund had faced Sousa just a day earlier in singles, with the Portuguese emerging victorious in three sets. But it was Edmund who came out on top in doubles with Norrie, with both reaching their first tour-level doubles final. In the first semi-final of the day, Wesley Koolhof and Artem Sitak beat Jonathan Eysseric and Joe Salisbury, 7-5, 6-3.
