Moldovan Radu Albot arrived in Lyon for the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Lyon having lost his past six matches at all levels. Not only that, but the World No. 97 had dropped 12 of his past 14 matches overall. Yet the 28-year-old bounced back, defeating Argentine Federico Delbonis 6-7(7), 7-5, 6-4 on Sunday to set up a second-round clash against Miami champion John Isner, whom he beat at the New York Open earlier this year. But before the action got started this week at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech, some of the tournament’s stars got to enjoy a new kind of wild ride. Albot/Chung Upset Kontinen/Peers In Melbourne

Radu Albot and Hyeon Chung, the Next Gen ATP Finals titlist, scored a massive upset in the Australian Open doubles second round on Friday when they knocked out defending champions Henri Kontinen and John Peers 6-4, 7-6(5) in one hour and 35 minutes. Marginally stronger on serve, Albot and Chung survived a power barrage from the second seeds, who struck 29 winners, to convert one of their three break point opportunities for a place in the third round. Albot Ousts Second Seed Lorenzi In Antalya

Radu Albot caused the upset of the day on Wednesday at the Antalya Open, storming into the quarter-finals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over second seed Paolo Lorenzi. The Moldovan scored the lone break in each set to advance in one hour and 21 minutes and reach his ATP World Tour quarter-final. Lorenzi’s struggles on grass continue, with the Italian recording an 11th consecutive loss on the surface.
