Lorenzi Hits 100 In Istanbul

Italy’s Paolo Lorenzi earned his 100th tour-level win on Monday, beating wild card Cem Ilkel 6-2, 6-3 at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open. The 36-year-old Italian, who reached a career-high ATP Ranking of No. 33 in May 2017, won 83 per cent of first-serve points en route to the 66-minute milestone win. Lorenzi lifted his only ATP World Tour title on clay at the 2016 Generali Open, while also reaching three further championship matches on the surface during his 15-year career. Italy's Paolo Lorenzi extended his FedEx ATP Head2Head advantage to 3-1 against Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain, knocking out the top seed 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday at the Sydney International. Lorenzi had an immaculate day serving, capturing 90 per cent of his first-serve points and saving both break points. Ramos-Vinolas has been the top seed two times in his career, and he's lost in the first round both times. The Spaniard also fell in the first round of the German Tennis Championships 2017 to eventual champion Leonardo Mayer of Argentina. Italian veteran Paolo Lorenzi had no intention of letting the home favourite advance to the second round this year.
