Dimitrov, Cilic Qualify For Nitto ATP Finals

Grigor Dimitrov and Marin Cilic have both secured their places at the Nitto ATP Finals, to be held from 12-19 November at The O2 in London. They will join World No. 1 Rafael Nadal, six-time champion Roger Federer, 20-year-old debutant Alexander Zverev and two-time qualifier Dominic Thiem in the elite eight-man field. Buoyed by his career-high ranking of No. 6 and playing on home soil, Austrian Dominic Thiem made a confident start to his campaign at the Erste Bank Open 500 in Vienna on Tuesday. The second seed at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament won his first meeting with 20-year-old Russian Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 20 minutes. Donaldson, Coric Clinch Next Gen ATP Finals Berths

The field for the inaugural Next Gen ATP Finals is nearly complete. American Jared Donaldson and Borna Coric of Croatia on Tuesday became the fifth and sixth players, respectively, to qualify for the 21-and-under tournament, to be held 7-11 November in Milan. Donaldson and Coric joined the following players who had already qualified for the eight-player tournament: German Alexander Zverev; Russians Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov; and Canadian Denis Shapovalov. Even after a year away from the Swiss Indoors Basel due to injury, it looks as if top seed Roger Federer did not miss a beat. The 36-year-old began his campaign for an eighth title in his hometown, defeating #NextGenATP American Frances Tiafoe for the third time this season, 6-1, 6-3 in 61 minutes.
