Horia Tecau has been honoured with the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in the 2017 ATP World Tour Awards presented by Moët & Chandon for his efforts in championing children’s rights and education in his home country of Romania. The World No. 8 doubles player accepted the award at the Nitto ATP Finals Official Launch, presented by Moët & Chandon, on Thursday evening at the Tower of London. The 32-year-old, who says all children should have access to kindergarten and school, was earlier honoured in April when he became a national ambassador for UNICEF in Romania. Challenger Stars Swap Racquets For Paintbrushes In Buenos Aires

High-quality tennis was on display throughout the week at the Copa San Cristobal in Buenos Aires, with six of the eight seeds reaching the quarter-finals. At the China Open this week in Beijing, the ATP ACES for Charity Programme awarded a grant of $15,000 to the Beijing Golden Wings Art Rehabilitation Center For Disabled Children, a unique charitable service that offers rehabilitation through art education to families of disabled youth. Children at Golden Wings have been given the opportunity to engage with the sport of tennis in an entirely new way: The organisation established the first tennis team of autistic children in China, an outlet for the kids to burn off some energy and have fun along the way. Kyrgios Pledges Donations To Puerto Rico

The more aces Nick Kyrgios hits, the more help Puerto Rico, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria, will receive. The 22-year-old Aussie upped his planned giving to the U.S. territory on Wednesday, saying he would give $50 for every ace he hits through the remainder of the season. Kyrgios had said he would give $10 for every ace, joining WTA player Monica Puig, who is from Puerto Rico, in helping rebuild the island, which is home to 3.4 million people.
