Kubot/Melo Show Grass-Court Prowess In Halle

Top seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo stayed unbeaten on the grass on Wednesday in Halle, moving into the Gerry Weber Open quarter-finals with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 victory against Japan's Kei Nishikori and Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. Kubot/Melo, champions at the Ricoh Open in s'-Hertogenbosch on Sunday, won 83 per cent of their first-serve points to advance in 83 minutes. Zverev Brothers Cruise In Home Opener

Alexander Zverev and Mischa Zverev won an all-German doubles battle on Monday at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, dismissing wild cards Florian Mayer and Philipp Petzschner 6-4, 6-1. The Zverev brothers rolled in the opener, winning 80 per cent of their service points and saving the lone break point they faced. They will meet Brian Baker of the U.S. and Alexander Peya of Austria in the quarter-finals. Murray/Soares Start Grass Season Perfectly

Second seeds Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares completed a perfect beginning to their grass-court seasons on Sunday, beating fourth seeds Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic 6-7(4), 7-5, 10-5 to win the MercedesCup doubles title in Stuttgart. Murray/Soares dropped only four points on their first serve (44/48) and saved both break points. Neither team broke in the first set but Marach/Pavic won the final three points of the tie-break to claim the opener. In the second set, Murray/Soares broke at 5-5 then served out the set to even the final. Melo/Kubot Take Den Bosch Doubles Title

Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo continued their outstanding season by taking the doubles title at the Ricoh Open on Saturday, living up to their top seed status in ‘s-Hertogenbosch by defeating second seeds Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram 6-3, 6-4.  “We’ve had a really good year. Pavic/Marach Knock Off Bryans To Reach Stuttgart Final

Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic will play in their first ATP World Tour doubles final as a team after beating top seeds Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 7-6(3), 6-3 on Saturday at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart Marach and Pavic hit 15 aces and relented only five points on their first serve, winning 89 per cent (42/47). The fourth seeds, who started playing together earlier this year in Miami, also never faced a break point and converted one of their five break chances against the Bryan brothers.
