Cilic Finishes Stronger In Rain-Delayed Rome Contest

Marin Cilic overcame a slow start on Wednesday in Rome to beat Ryan Harrison of the U.S. 6-7(3), 6-1, 7-6(1) for the seventh time in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series (7-1). [ALSO LIKE] Their second-round match was suspended late Tuesday night because of rain at 6-6(3-3), and Harrison started faster on Court Centrale on Wednesday afternoon, winning the first four points to quickly take a one-set lead. Cilic, though, recovered well, winning 86 per cent of his first-serve points (12/14) in the second set to even the match. Wedding Bells Fuel Defending Champ Cilic In Istanbul

Marin Cilic makes his return to the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open this week with fond memories to fuel his campaign, not least from having won the title in 2017 as a wild card. Cilic Halts Verdasco

Marin Cilic denied Fernando Verdasco the 500th match win of his career on Wednesday as he booked his spot in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters third round. The second-seeded Croatian worked hard for a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory over 2010 runner-up Verdasco in the final match of the day on Court Rainier III, the main show court. He will now compete against No. 14 Milos Raonic of Canada on Thursday. Cilic leads their FedEx ATP Head2Head series 2-1.
