Dominic Thiem’s relentless work ethic and superior fitness continues to be rewarded on clay courts in 2017. The Austrian has moved back up two places to his career-high of No. 7 in the Emirates ATP Rankings following another impressive week on the Spanish clay. Earlier this month, Thiem was runner-up at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell (l. Nadal) and replicated that form at the Mutua Madrid Open to reach his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 final, where he pushed Nadal once again. Pablo Carreno Busta commanded the field at the Millennium Estoril Open to move up three positions in the Emirates ATP Rankings to a career-high No. 18.
