Nick Kyrgios stormed into the second round of the Australian Open after a comfortable 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 win over Rogerio Dutra Silva on Monday. After winning the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp in the first week of the season, Kyrgios looked as sharp as ever, competing with real confidence that he can go deep in the draw and improve on his best result in Melbourne - a quarter-final showing in 2015. No. 53 Daniil Medvedev, +31 The 21-year-old Russian captured his first ATP World Tour title at the Sydney International with victory over 18-year-old Australian wild card Alex de Minaur. It was the youngest tour-level final since Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic at the 2007 BNP Paribas Open. Medvedev rises up 31 places to No. 53 in the ATP Rankings, just five spots off his career-high of No. 48 on 24 July 2017. De Minaur jumped 40 positions to No. 127 in the new list.
