World No. 3 Stan Wawrinka took to the skies ahead of his bid to retain the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships crown.
The Swiss star took a private flight in a Skydive Dubai gyrocopter for a flight over the Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeriah and Dubai Marina before making his way back to Skydive Dubai.
“It was really great fun, I really enjoyed it,” said Wawrinka. “It’s nice to fly in a small plane and see things from above. Dubai is a great tournament. Last year it was a great week for me to win the trophy. I’m really happy to be back.”
The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Damir Dzumhur recorded the biggest match win of his career on Tuesday when he knocked out World No. 3 and defending champion Stan Wawrinka at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The 24-year-old Dzumhur, who is currently No. 77 in the Emirates ATP Rankings and making his debut at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament, recovered from a 0-3 deficit in the first set en route to beating Wawrinka 7-6(4), 6-3 in 72 minutes.
