Muller Continues Dream Season With Den Bosch Title

Fourth seed Gilles Muller won his second ATP World Tour title on Sunday at the Ricoh Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, prevailing over third seed Ivo Karlovic in a battle of big serves 7-6(5), 7-6(4). “I think we should make a suggestion to the ATP that we just start with the tie-break next time!” said Muller. “It’s always tough to play Ivo and I’m glad I could beat him. Muller Upsets Zverev In Den Bosch

Fourth seed Gilles Muller kept up his top form on Saturday in s’-Hertogenbosch, storming into another final at the Ricoh Open by upsetting second seed Alexander Zverev 7-6(5), 6-2. “It was definitely one of my best matches this season. Everyone knows Sascha is a tough player and has already won some big tournaments, so I’m very happy to get through,” said Muller. “It’s true that I’m one of the older guys on tour, but I’m having my best time this year. I’ve been injury-free the past few years and able to play a full schedule, so that has helped me a lot.” In a battle of veterans, Muller will contest the championship match...

The win puts the 33-year-old Luxembourg native into his third ATP World Tour quarter-final of the season. “You want to win no matter what court it is, so it’s been frustrating to not win many matches on clay the past few years,” said Muller. “But I did things differently this year and went to Monaco 10 days before my tournaments. I had a couple of good matches in Monte-Carlo and now here, so it’s been working well.  He will next face Taro Daniel, who dismissed qualifier Bjorn...
