Vicis is out of business, but NFL commercial features high-tech football helmet during playoffs

It’s been a couple weeks since the demise of Seattle-based Vicis, the high-tech football helmet maker that laid off all of its employees and was placed into receivership by its board just before Christmas. But the once highly regarded startup is still in the game — at least when it comes to being featured in NFL commercials that are airing during current playoff games. Seahawks star Russell Wilson uses Uber ads to prove he can poke fun at painful Super Bowl loss

At least Russell Wilson can joke about it. With the Super Bowl just a couple days away, the sting for many fans is that their team isn’t playing for the NFL’s biggest prize. CEO Jeff Bezos makes an appearance in the ad, as do celebs Cardi B, Gordon Ramsey, Rebel Wilson, and Sir Anthony Hopkins. The competition, in its 30th year, required panelists to rate ads on a 1-10 scale. Every… Read More

In the advertising game that is taking place before the big football game, Amazon is running with a crop of heavy hitters who are leading the way in digital engagement before anyone turns on a television this Sunday. Amazon’s Alexa ad, which features a host of celebrities filling in when the tech-giant’s AI assistant loses her voice, is in the thick of the top five, going up against spots for Doritos/Mountain Dew, NBC’s “This Is Us,” Budweiser and the film “Dundee.” With Super Bowl LII still two days away, the days are long gone when advertisers would get all of… Read More

Bleacher Report CEO Dave Finocchio has some advice for Facebook. Speaking at the 2017 GeekWire Sports Tech Summit the co-founder of what has become the second largest sports website in the United States said social media can be a struggle for publishers big and small. He noted that Facebook pushed publishers to use its platform as a way to spread content far and wide, but over the years it became harder to get stories linke back to a website promoted. “I think the days of being able to drive massive referral traffic back to your website are coming to an… Read More
