Technology’s expanding role in water sports is redefining the surfing experience. From virtual surf sessions to motorized surfboards, surfing is catching the wave of innovation sweeping recreational water sports. Seattle-based Freefly Systems recently debuted its vision for “dronesurfing,” capturing the imagination of techies and aspiring surfers around the internet. Drone surfing is the epic geeky sport of the future 

Freefly Systems, a Seattle-area company that makes toys for drone photographers, just released a video of your new favorite sport you didn’t know existed. Dronesurfing is kind of like wakeboarding without the wake — or the boat. Water sports fans will be instantly jealous of the video’s star, as he skids along the glassy surface without the noise of an engine or the smell of fumes.
