Disney to cut ties with Netflix and launch its own streaming service, as well as a platform for ESPN

Disney is going to go its own way when it comes to streaming, announcing Tuesday that it will be ending its distribution deal with Netflix. The company plans to launch its own branded streaming service in 2019 and will also debut an ESPN service early next year. Netflix missed slightly on subscriber estimates for its first quarter earnings report as the streaming giant saw shares initially dip but then rise more than 1 percent in after-hours trading on Monday.
