Photos show Seattle Mariners’ home ballpark being torn up as Safeco Field gets a major resurfacing

If the Seattle Mariners “left it all on the field” at the end of the 2017 baseball season they won’t be able to get it back next year, as the playing surface is being completely replaced at Safeco Field. The offseason project is the first replacement of the ballpark’s original surface, installed in the spring of 1999. New images from the team on Instagram show the process has begun to remove the grass in the outfield. We’ve seen 22-foot tall cactuses and a Georgia city offering to change its name. But football-crazed Michigan is taking a gridiron approach to wooing Amazon’s second headquarters, known as HQ2. Michael Jordan asks Jeff Bezos to bring Amazon’s second HQ to Charlotte

Even Michael Jordan is getting in on the Amazon HQ2 sweepstakes. Embed from Getty Images The greatest basketball player of all time and owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets wrote a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos this week asking him to bring the company’s second headquarters to Charlotte. The Charlotte Observer reported that the letter is part of Charlotte’s bid for “Amazon HQ2,” which will be the tech giant’s second headquarters in addition to its home base in Seattle.
